There’s no shortage of holiday music from big-name artists from all genres — and a lot of it is pretty slickly produced.
But, country star Lee Ann Womack has gifted fans with a simple, stripped-down rendition of the traditional Christmas hymn “O Come All Ye Faithful.” (Her version uses “Oh” in the title.)
It’s pure Womack accompanied by acoustic guitar.
On Twitter, the 50-year-old singer said it’s “one of my favourite Christmas songs.”

Womack has made the song available to stream or download.
“I hope that you enjoy this one as much as I do,” she wrote on Soundcloud. “Wishing you a holiday season filled with much joy and happiness!”
Dating back to the 1700s, the carol was originally written in Latin and titled “Adeste Fideles.”
It’s been recorded by dozens of artists, including Mariah Carey and Pentatonix.
In 2014, Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister told Time Out Chicago that the band’s hit “We’re Not Gonna Take It” borrows from the hymn. “Turns out, I stole the chord progression from 'O Come All Ye Faithful,’” he joked.
It’s been awhile since Womack has shared a holiday recording. Her 2002 album The Season of Romance featured favourites like “White Christmas” and “Silent Night.”
