Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has shared a cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”
“One of my favourite songs of all time, and a timely song for a tough year,” tweeted Bellamy. “We should all reach out and be there for our friends right now!”
The 42-year-old English singer replaces the original’s piano with acoustic guitar and showcases his vocals.
“Bridge Over Troubled Water,” written by Paul Simon, is Simon and Garfunkel’s biggest hit, spending six weeks at No. 1 in the U.S. and topping the charts in Canada. It was named Song of the Year and Record of the Year at the Grammys in 1971.
Bellamy is in good company – the song has been covered by a long list of artists, including Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. In 2017, a group of UK music stars that included Dua Lipa and James Blunt joined forces to record a version of the song as a charity single.
