British pop star Robbie Williams has gifted us with “Can’t Stop Christmas,” a holiday tune specifically for 2020.
“Oh what a miserable year,” he sings. “I wish that I could do what I like with this family of mine / We’re going out of our minds.”
Williams throws in timely references (“Santa’s on his sleigh / But now he’s 2 metres away”), shares his wish list (“Socks and sanitizer will do fine”) and adds a touch of his signature cheekiness (“Let’s lie to Santa Claus / Tell him it’s 1984.”
The song offers some hope, though. “Come this time next year / I know you’ll be here with me.”
The COVID-19 Christmas carol is a collaboration between Williams and longtime producers Guy Chambers and Richard Flack.
