Is there anything that could make Taylor Swift’s song “Lover” better? How about Shawn Mendes?
Early Wednesday, Swift premiered a remix of the title track from her latest album that features the Canadian singer.
“We could light a bunch of candles and dance around the kitchen, baby,” Mendes sings. “Pictures of when we were young would hang on the wall / We would sit on the stoop / I’ll sing love songs to you when we’re 80 / See, I finally got you now honey, I won’t let you fall.”
Mendes’ voice is blended with Swift’s throughout the rest of the song.
The two singers’ friendship goes back to when Mendes opened for Swift on her 1989 Tour in 2015. At a Reputation tour stop in L.A. in 2018, Swift brought Mendes out on stage to perform his hit "There’s Nothing Holding Me Back."
