If you’re watching the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship on TSN, you’ve probably already heard “Roots,” the hockey tournament’s anthem.
Performed by Canadian country siblings The Reklaws – Jenna and Stuart Walker – the track was written with Jenson Vaughan and Massimo Alonzi.
“The moment we wrote this song we knew it was something special,” The Reklaws said, in a release. “We also knew that the release of this song had to be around something just as special.
“Roots” debuted on Boxing Day, when the annual hockey tournament began.
The Reklaws said they hope the song speaks to players and fans alike. “It reminds each of us that no matter how far you get or how many lucky breaks you have in life, we must always be thankful and reminded of what got us there in the first place!”
Earlier this month, The Reklaws announced an eight-city tour that kicks off Feb. 25 in London, Ont.
