Lizzo has posted an emotional message on social media claiming she quits after "being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet."
The Grammy-winning artist addressed the backlash that began last summer when she and her team were accused by former dancers Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez and Crystal Williams of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment, as well religious and racial harassment, false imprisonment, interference with prospective economic advantage and other allegations.
“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it,” Lizzo shared on Instagram. “But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.
“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views…" she continues. "Being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name. I didn’t sign up for this s**t — I QUIT”
Lizzo denied the allegations, calling them "sensationalized stories" and saying she is "not the villain that people and the media have portrayed me to be these last few days." One week later more former employees accused her of fostering a “sexually charged environment” and failing to pay employees.
