Luke Bryan just released his sixth studio album What Makes You Country, and to celebrate the country star had an iHeartCountry Album Release Party in Los Angeles this week.
Fresh off his 19th No. 1 song, “Light It Up,” Bryan treated the crowd to songs both old and new. He performed past hits "Move," "That's My Kind Of Night," "Huntin' Fishin' And Lovin' Every Day," "I Don't Want This Night To End," and "Country Girl (Shake It For Me).”
He also mixed in brand new songs off What Makes You Country including, "Most People Are Good," "Light It Up," "Like You Say You Do," and "Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset."
“In our society people are putting people in boxes, saying you've gotta be here, you've gotta be this or that,” Bryan explained, when asked about the album title. “That happens in a lot in all of music. So, What Makes You Country, I just want people to be proud of if they are country 24/7 because that's what they are, or if you can't get to the country but once a month – fly that flag too.”

Bryan co-wrote seven of the songs on What Makes You Country. How does he find time in his busy schedule to write? "I write really well out on the road. I don't want to write when I'm home, so it's nice to write on the road,” he said.
“The main thing is trying to focus, and make the time to sit down.”
Next year, Bryan will serve as a judge on the new American Idol. "We've done about 300 auditions,” he said. “We’ve seen some unbelievable talent. Katy [Perry] and Lionel [Richie], we're just having a blast trying to find the American Idol. We're just having a blast, and seeing this kids come out of the wood work.
“Its inspiring for me, because I'm like, I've gotta get back and get to the drawing board. These people can sing a lot better than me.”
