Madonna has taken a shot at Canada in a video urging Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to move into her luxury New York City pad.
“Don’t run off to Canada,” Madonna said. “It’s so boring there.”
The couple has been living in B.C. since severing ties with the royal family earlier this year.
Madonna (who has French-Canadian roots via her mother Madonna Louise Fortin) said she will let the pair sublet her apartment on Central Park West. “It’s two-bedroom, it’s got the best view of Manhattan,” she said. “Incredible balcony.”
The 61-year-old pop star gushed about the views from her Upper West Side apartment. “No, Buckingham Palace has got nothing on [Central Park West],” she said, adding that all you can see from the palace is “a bunch of guys in wooly hats.”
Harry and Meghan, in fact, previously lived in Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Subletting is permitted at the Harpeley Hall co-op where Madonna bought an apartment in 2008 for $7.3 million U.S. but requires the written approval of its board of directors. Two years ago, the singer lost her legal battle against the co-op after the board decided her children and staff could not live in the apartment unless she was there.
