The long-gestating biopic of Madonna's life appears to be back in development.
The 65-year-old singer posted a reel on Instagram featuring pics of her working hard on the script to the movie of her life, which is currently titled Who's That Girl, after her 1987 movie and hit single of the same name.
In the caption, Madonna wrote, "I Need A-lot of Bandz to make this………..OKAY 🍸💵🤑. (Story of my life)"
The Madonna biopic has hit many snags since it was first announced in 2020, with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno) reportedly working on a script under the title Little Sparrow. Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on The Train) was then attached to the script, however, now it look as though the Material Girl is taking on the task herself.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Madonna will also self-direct the film, with Emmy winner Julia Garner (Ozark) set to star in the lead role, after completing was has been called a "Madonna bootcamp."
Back in December, Garner joined Madonna on stage at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn during the "Vogue" segment of the stop on the Celebration Tour.
Madonna has previously described the film to be about her "struggle as an artist trying to survive in a man's world as a woman, and really just the journey [as a] happy, sad, mad, crazy, good, bad, and ugly" tale.
