Fans learned this past weekend why Ariana Grande took to social media last wee to give a shout-out to Madonna.
The legendary pop star recorded part of the "Ezekiel 25:17" scene from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction for the video for Grande's new single "God Is A Woman."
At the 2:24 mark, Madonna's voice is heard reciting a version of the second half of the passage: "And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my sisters. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."
Speculation of a collaboration swirled after Grande, 25, tweeted: “thank you @madonna… u know why” with a heart emoji and an emoji of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Grande's new album Sweetener drops on Aug. 17 – a day after Madonna's 60th birthday.
