Mariah Carey has become the first artist ever to top the U.S. singles chart in four consecutive decades.
The 49-year-old pop superstar’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the third consecutive week – and even though the ranking represents the week that ended Dec. 28, the chart is dated Jan. 4, 2020. The chart is compiled using Nielsen Music data from streaming, radio airplay and sales.
This means Carey has had at least one No. 1 hit in the 90s, ‘00s, ‘10s and ‘20s.

Until this week, Carey was one of only nine artists who topped the Hot 100 in three decades. The others were Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Usher.
Carey has had 19 songs atop the chart since 1990’s “Vision of Love” and “Love Takes Time.”
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” is the singer’s 10th track to top the Hot 100 for at least three weeks, beating a record held by the Beatles and Rihanna. Carey is one away from tying the Beatles for the most No. 1 hits overall.
