Meryl Streep has explained what happened when she returned to her table at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards to find Mariah Carey in her chair.
“Bitch stole my seat,” the Oscar winning actress joked, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“Yeah, I came over and there she was next to [Steven] Spielberg, sucking up,” Streep continued. “She said, ‘Oh my god they made me sit down!’ Because you know … everyone has to drop to their seat” as the show goes back on air.
“I said, ‘No, no, stay there. I’ll sit on your lap.’”
Earlier, Carey took to Twitter to explain how she ended up in Streep’s spot.
“Got caught mingling on the way to the loo during a commercial break,” she tweeted. “Took the first seat available, happens to be right next to Steven Spielberg.
“Cut to commercial break, guess who comes back to her seat.”
Carey said she asked Streep to forgive her and the actress replied: “You can take my seat any time!”
