Marilyn Manson will be in Toronto to play the lead singer of metal band Blood Death in the third season of American Gods.
“As a long-time admirer of his estimable talent as an author, artist, musician and actor, it is dope indeed to be working with Mr. Manson,” showrunner Chic Eglee told Deadline, which was first to report the casting news.
“Bringing his specific energy, wit and boundless enthusiasm for all things Neil Gaiman to the role of Johan [Wengren], a Norse berserker in service to Odin, his performance promises to be disturbing, original and uniquely entertaining.”
American Gods, based on Neil Gaiman’s 2001 novel of the same name, stars Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Ricky Whittle and Gillian Anderson.
Production of the third season begins at the end of September and runs until early March.
Manson has dabbled in acting over the years, including in recurring roles on Sons of Anarchy, Salem and The New Pope.
