Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden is facing a domestic violence charge after being arrested last Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles.

The 41-year-old, who is not married, is accused of “wilfully” inflicting “traumatic” injury on a cohabitant. The alleged victim was not immediately identified.

“We are deeply devastated by this disappointing news,” said a rep for the band, in a statement. “As we learn more, we are looking at this very seriously. For now, we are allowing all of the individuals involved the space to work things through.”

Madden was released on the day of his arrest on $50,000 U.S. bail and is due in court Sept. 29.

He and frontman Adam Levine are the only founding members of Maroon 5 still in the band.
