Massive Attack shows in Montreal and Toronto this week have been scrapped as part of the postponement of the Britsh group’s North American tour.

In a Facebook message on Friday, Massive Attack blamed an unspecified illness.

“The shows will be rescheduled for this fall, with a full announcement to be made on Thursday March 14th,” the statement read. “All current tickets will be valid for the new dates.

“The band are deeply sorry for any inconvenience and are looking forward to bringing the show to the USA and Canada soon.”

Massive Attack was due to perform Monday night at Place des Arts in Montreal and Tuesday at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. They were the only two Canadian dates on the Mezzanine XXI tour.

When it was announced last November, the tour was described as “a totally new audio / visual production” that reimagines the 1998 album Mezzanine “using custom audio reconstructed from the original samples and influences.”
