Singer Matthew Koma on Wednesday unleashed on Zedd, accusing the DJ-producer of treating him unfairly and unprofessionally.
“He’s the worst,” Koma declared in a message he shared on social media. “With millions and millions of dollars and so many hit songs, you’d think you could afford to treat people with kindness and appreciate their role in helping you achieve your dream.”
Koma, the 31-year-old fiancé of singer-actress Hilary Duff, admitted he is proud of the work he did with Zedd – including 2012’s “Spectrum,” 2014’s “Find You” and the Grammy-winning “Clarity.”
“Unfortunately my good feelings towards those songs have all but disappeared as they were experienced alongside someone so toxic and self serving that it occupied the space where any happiness could exist,” Koma wrote.
“S**tty people suck and when they’re successful, people are afraid to blow the whistle.”

Koma (whose real name is Matthew Bair) wrote that he never understood why Zedd had an “inferiority complex” because he was “a very talented producer back when he was involved in his productions.” He alleged that Zedd took credit for writing lyrics (“I wrote every word and melody,” Koma claimed) and didn’t pay him for singing on “Spectrum” until after a long fight.
Koma alleged that Zedd refused to allow him to release a song he produced for Koma’s album (“I had to wait 4 years to put a different version out,” he wrote).
“More of less, I was just brushed under the rug while he took all the credit,” Koma wrote.

His attack on Zedd didn’t end there, though. Koma alleged Zedd could only play piano in the key of C, which he said “contradicted the whole ‘genius classical pianist’ persona.”
Koma said he penned the message in response to fans who kept asking what happened between the pair. “It wasn’t really my choice,” he said of the duo’s split. “Now, [he] has plenty of people to write his songs and produce his tracks and help him continue on his trajectory.”
Koma said he would rather clean toilets at Starbucks “than ever experience that abusive dynamic again.”
By late Wednesday, Zedd – whose real name is Anton Zaslavski – had not responded publicly to Koma's attack.
