Megan Thee Stallion is taking aim at Canada’s Tory Lanez on “Shots Fired,” a track from her just-released album Good News.
Lanez was charged last month with assault with a firearm in connection with a July shooting that wounded Megan’s foot. On Wednesday, he pleaded not guilty.
“Imagine n***as lyin’ ’bout shootin’ a real b**ch just to save face for rapper n****s you chill with,” Megan raps on the track, which samples 1995’s “Who Shot Ya?” by The Notorious B.I.G. and does not mention Lanez by name.
“You shot a 5’10” b**ch, with a .22 / Talkin’ ’bout bones and tendons like them bullets weren’t pellets.”
That’s a reference to Lanez’s September release “Money Over Fallouts,” in which he casts doubt on Megan’s injury. “How the f**k you get shot in your foot,” he raps, “don’t hit no bones or tendons?”
On “Shots Fired,” Megan says Lanez was “in the back seat and he keep callin’ me a b**ch” and suggests she should have named him as her alleged shooter sooner than she did. “Should’ve let them lock your a** up.”
Megan recently told GQ that Lanez offered to pay her and a friend who was in the vehicle for their silence. “I'm thinking, ‘I can't believe you even think I want to take some money. Like, you just shot me,’” she said. (GQ said a lawyer for Lanez denied he offered cash to Megan or her friend.)
