Meghan Patrick was the big winner Sunday night at the eighth annual Country Music Association of Ontario Awards.
“THREE CMA Ontario awards?! This truly never gets old for me, and I am so incredibly grateful for every single one of them,” Patrick tweeted.
The Bowmanville, Ont. native was named Female Artist of the Year for the third consecutive time and Wild As Me earned Album of the Year.
“I’m thankful … because it is such a special record to me for so many reasons,” she tweeted.
The album’s title track won Patrick and co-writers Jordan Rager and Michael Whitworth the award for Songwriters of the Year.
Close behind was Tim Hicks, who was named Male Artist of the Year for the fifth time and won the Nielsen Compass Award. Also earning a pair of CMAOntario Awards were James Barker Band (Single and Music Video of the Year for “Keep it Simple”) and the Reklaws (Group or Duo of the Year, Fans’ Choice).
Pure Country’s own Shannon Ella was honoured as Industry Person of the Year and Pure Country Orillia was named the Small Market Radio of the Station of the Year.
The Rising Star award went to Aaron Allen and other winners included Les Rats d’Swompe (Francophone Artist or Group of the Year), The Abrams (Roots Artist or Group of the Year) and Jeff Dalziel (Record Producer of the Year).
