Mel C has once again teased plans by all five members of the Spice Girls to mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album Spice.
“We have our WhatsApp group and we are all talking,” the singer told UK’s You magazine, “but I can’t say more than that.”
The group’s first single “Wannabe” came out in June 1996 ahead of the album’s September release.
Just last month, Mel C – aka Sporty Spice – was asked about a Spice Girls 25th anniversary reunion tour in 2021. “It would be rude not to!,” she said on UK talk show Lorraine. “We had the most incredible year last year, playing stadiums and we have got to do it again. We talk about it all the time.”
The 13-date Spice Girls UK tour last spring grossed $100 million but did not include Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice).
“The reunion tour was magical,” Mel C told You. “The fans were there to have the best time and they were looking fantastic. We all had our kids there. We sang in the sun and the rain. Of all the tours it was, for me, the most special.”
Earlier this month, Melanie Brown (aka Scary Spice) admitted she is facing bankruptcy due to a tax debt in the U.S. and payments she was ordered to make to ex-husband Stephen Belafonte. The pop star claimed she is unable to find work due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“While I hope to find employment opportunities for 2021, I anticipate that it will be difficult to find work as an entertainer in these unprecedented times,” Brown wrote. “I am informed and believe that there will not be any events or concerts in 2021. Therefore, I have no idea how long it will be before I can work and the businesses can earn any significant further income.”
