Metallica has announced that its epic performances with the San Francisco Symphony last September will be released next month – in many different formats.
S&M2, due out Aug. 28, was recorded during the rock band’s first collaboration with the orchestra in two decades. Metallica's 1999 album S&M was co-produced by Canada’s Bob Rock and went on to sell more than 8 million copies.
Fans can relive the show with the $130 (all figures U.S.) “Deluxe” box set, which includes four limited edition vinyl LPs, 2 CDs, a Blu-ray, exclusive phonebook, sheet music, poster, download card and five guitar picks.
Also available are 4-LP sets in black or orange marble vinyl that include a phonebook and download card ($69.99) and various CD, Blu-ray and DVD offerings ranging from $14.99 to $26.99.
To promote pre-orders, Metallica has released S&M2 versions of “All Within My Hands” and “Nothing Else Matters.”
