Metallica will headline five rock festivals next year, it was announced Thursday.
“When Metallica takes the stage, it’s an event. It’s an experience,” said festival producer Danny Wimmer, in a release. “I can’t wait to bring the biggest band in the world to the biggest rock festivals in America.”
Metallica will play two different sets at each festival: Epicenter in Charlotte, NC (May 1-3); Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, FL (May 8-10); Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio (May 15-17); Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY (Sept. 18-20) and Aftershock in Sacramento, CA (Oct. 9-11).
Tickets go on sale to the general public at 12 noon EST on Oct. 14.
Last month, Metallica cancelled its tour of Australia and New Zealand, scheduled to run Oct. 17 to Nov. 2, so frontman James Hetfield can return to rehab.
