Canada’s Michael Bublé is making his Super Bowl debut this year – in a commercial for flavoured sparkling water brand Bubly.
The B.C. crooner stars in a 30-second commercial that will air during the third quarter of the game on Feb. 3.
“I might be Canadian, but I’m a big fan of American football,” Bublé said, in a release. “I had a blast doing my very first Super Bowl commercial with Bublé – I mean Bubly. Because of our similar names, the brand and I share a special bond.”
A teaser for the commercial shows Bublé sitting on the floor of a grocery store and using a marker to change the the “y” on cans of Bubly to an “é.”
Bubly maker PepsiCo has also enlisted Chance the Rapper and Backstreet Boys to star in a commercial for its Doritos brand during the Super Bowl broadcast. The 30-second ad will promote the new Flamin’ Hot Nacho flavour.
And, rapper Lil Jon (who recently partnered with Kool-Aid) is featured in a Super Bowl ad for classic Pepsi.
A 30-second spot during the U.S. broadcast of the Super Bowl runs about $5 million U.S. The soft drink brand is also the sponsor of the halftime show featuring Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi.
