Michelle Branch has released the title track, “Hopeless Romantic”, off of her album out Apr. 7.
It’s her first release since her 2010 EP, Everything Comes and Goes, and her first full-length studio album since 2003’s Hotel Paper.
Branch debuted the new track, produced by her partner Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, exclusively on Billboard.
The track has a soul funk sound. “I don’t understand it, ’cause it’s magic, but it’s tragic / You’re gonna eat me alive,” she sings.
“I love hearing human stories about people interacting with each other, and the title perfectly sums up the record,” said Branch in a statement about the album.
“A lot of these songs are about heartbreak, but knowing that it doesn’t mean the end of the world, it just means letting go and moving on and knowing that you’re going to find something better, as hard as that is.” She also notes that this will be her first truly autobiographical record.”
Hopeless Romantic is released Apr. 7. Listen to the full song at Billboard.
