Takeoff, one-third of rap trio Migos, has been accused of raping a woman at a house party earlier this summer – an allegation his rep has dismissed as “patently and provably false.”
The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kirshnik Ball, is named in a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. The plaintiff, identified as “Jane Doe,” alleges the sexual assault took place June 22 at a house party in Encino, California.
She has alleged sexual battery, battery, assault, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
The woman claims while waiting in a bedroom for another man, Takeoff came in and allegedly “began touching her buttocks.” After she told him she was not interested in sex, he allegedly “grabbed her, flipped her over face-down, and pulled down her clothing” and “proceeded to have forceful sexual intercourse with her from behind, without her consent.”
According to the lawsuit, the woman went to a hospital where staff allegedly “observed physical evidence of forceful rape and notified the Los Angeles Police Department.” The LAPD confirmed there is an active investigation.
But a lawyer for Takeoff said in a statement late Wednesday “the allegations made against Takeoff are patently and provably false” and called the lawsuit “an obvious exploitative money grab.”
The statement added: “As his counsel, we are well aware and well versed on the importance of civil and criminal prosecution of true sexual assaults. This is not one of those situations.”
