Among those who loved Miley Cyrus’ cover of “Heart of Glass” at the iHeartRadio Music Festival this past weekend was the band that wrote and recorded it 42 years ago.
“We think @MileyCyrus nailed it,” read a tweet Monday on the official account of Debbie Harry and Blondie.
Cyrus put a lot of “heart” into the 2020 iHeartRadio Music Festival by covering “Heart of Glass” and then performing her 2010 track “Who Owns My Heart” and last year’s Mark Ronson collaboration “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.”
She also did her new single, “Midnight Sky,” which unabashedly pays homage to the sounds of certain throwback acts.
“One thing that has been really inspiring me is artists from the past,” Cyrus said after taping her festival performance. “That’s always been a big part of my career, whether it’s Stevie Nicks or Debbie Harry.”
