Miley Cyrus has revealed plans to release a new album in 2025 titled Something Beautiful.
In the cover story for the December/January issue of Harper's Bazaar, the Grammy Award winner says that Something Beautiful is unlike anything she's ever done before.
Cyrus uses words like “hypnotizing and glamorous” to describe it, while adding that “it’s a concept album that’s an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music.”
Producer Shawn Everett (Beyoncé, Hozier) adds that “[the album is] more experimental than anything she’s ever done, but in a pop way that I love.”
Part of that comes from Something Beautiful being presented as a visual album, Cyrus explains.
“The visual component of this is driving the sound,” Cyrus explains. “It was important for me that every song has these healing sound properties. The songs, whether they’re about destruction or heartbreak or death, they’re presented in a way that is beautiful, because the nastiest times of our life do have a point of beauty. They are the shadow, they are the charcoal, they are the shading. You can’t have a painting without highlights and contrast.”
Cyrus says her longtime boyfriend, Maxx Morando, drummer for the band Liily, assisted her in making the album, helping produce as well as write the title track.
She says working with someone you're so close to was nothing new for her. “I worked with my dad forever," she says. "That’s how me and my ex-husband met each other. I’ve always worked with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much.”
As far as style goes, Cyrus was inspired by everything from the droid-like suit Zendaya wore to the Dune: Part Two premiere, to Pink Floyd: The Wall.
“We really leaned in. And so I have this heart-first attachment to it,” Cyrus adds. “My idea was making The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture.”

Introducing our December/January cover star: @mileycyrus. She’s a free spirit and an old soul, a Disney Legend and a Grammy winner. But the one thing she’s not interested in? Being predictable. https://t.co/F2e6nvaVfD pic.twitter.com/bQv61yN7Ts
