Miranda Lambert is speaking out about the pitfalls of social media.
The country singer spoke about wanting to keep her private life private. "I try, but it’s not up to me. With social media, it’s a whole other thing. And it’s such bulls**t," she told Hits Daily Double. "I’m thankful for the drama of it all, because it gets sillier and sillier. They make up so many lies, no one can know the truth. The truth is it’s in my music if you listen close enough."
Lambert said she keeps her use of social media to a minimum because she values genuine conversations.
"I see my friends, but it’s all on Facebook. So you say, 'What are you doing?' but you already know. It’s why I don’t put everything out there," she explained. "I wanna have a conversation, hear about it, have real face-to-face conversations—and be interesting."
Lambert said she took a three-month hiatus from social media in 2015. "I loved it. I realized I wasn’t picking up my phone looking at Twitter and Instagram. I read Willie Nelson’s It’s a Long Story, and poetry. I wrote 75 songs in six months because I wasn’t using my mind staring at mindless s**t."
