Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy died after choking on an egg, according to a coroner’s report.
The 42-year-old, whose real name was Albert Johnson, died on June 20.
At the time, his publicist said Prodigy was admitted to a Las Vegas hospital following a performance due to “complications caused by a sickle cell anaemia crisis.”
The condition causes red blood cells to die early and can cause blockage of blood flow.
The Clark County Medical Examiner confirmed that the hip-hop star was in hospital when he choked on an egg.
Prodigy formed Mobb Deep in New York City with musical partner Havoc and released Juvenile Hall in 1993.
