Musician Moby claims he was asked by “friends in the intelligence community” to spread the word about U.S. president Donald Trump’s alleged ties to Russia.

“They passed on some information to me and they said, like, ‘Look, you have more of a social media following than any of us do, can you please post some of these things just in a way that … sort of put it out there,’” Moby said during an interview with WFPK in Louisville.

He said his friends – active and former CIA agents – were “truly concerned” about Trump.

“To what extent there’s collusion, I don’t know, but where there’s smoke there’s fire,” said Moby. “The Trump administration is really in bed with the Russians in a very pernicious way. It’s really disturbing and it’s going to get quite a lot darker.”

The 52-year-old New Yorker alleged that the Trump family is aligned with shady characters.

“It’s really dark,” he said. “We should fasten our seatbelts and hold on.”

Moby said he sees something positive about the Trump presidency.

“One thing I’m really grateful for it that our president is incompetent,” he explained. “Just imagine how much more dangerous he’d be if he was intelligent and had emotional impulse control.

“If we’re going to have a tyrant, at least let him be stupid and incompetent.”
