A Montreal man says he got ticketed by police for singing in his car.
Taoufik Moalla claims he was singing C+C Music Factory’s 1990 hit “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" last month when he was pulled over. He says four officers approached his car.
“They asked me if I screamed. I said, ‘No, I was just singing,’” Moalla told CTV News.
Apparently not down with Moalla's dope rhyme, the officers issued a $149 ticket for screaming in public. In Montreal, it’s against the law “to cause disorder by screaming."
Moalla said: “I don’t know if my voice was very bad and that’s why I got the ticket, but I was very shocked."
As it happens, the powerful voice in "Gonna Make You Sweat" belongs to a singer named Freedom.
Moalla is challenging the ticket — perhaps using the "let the music take control / let the rhythm move you" defense. But, his wife appears to be on the side of the cops.
“She told me, if it was for singing, ‘I’d have given you a ticket for $300.’”
