Montreal’s Metro Metro festival is the latest big music event to fall victim to the COVID-19 crisis.
The sophomore edition of the hip hop festival, scheduled to take place May 15 to 17 with headliners like Travis Scott and Roddy Ricch, has been scrapped.
“The measures taken to limit the transmission and spread of the COVID-19 virus, including the extension of the Canadian border closure, has led us to make a heartbreaking decision,” read a message from promoters on Instagram.
“We can assure you that the festival will be back in full force in 2021.”
Metro Metro announced its 2020 line-up on Feb. 18 and, a day later, lost one of its artists when Pop Smoke was shot to death in Los Angeles.
Other performers scheduled for this year’s festival included 50 Cent, Young Thug, DaBaby and Fetty Wap.
