Lizzo, Kendrick Lamar and Foo Fighters are headlining this summer’s Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Montreal, sponsor Bell Alt TV announced exclusively on Monday.
It will be the first time Lizzo and Foo Fighters have performed at the popular festival, which runs July 31 to Aug. 2 at Jean Drapeau Park, and Lamar’s first appearance since he headlined in 2015.
Lizzo will be making her Quebec debut (her only previous Canadian show was last September in Toronto) and the Foo Fighters will be returning to the province after playing the Quebec City Summer Festival in 2018. Lamar’s most recent Montreal show was at the Bell Centre in 2017.
Festival founder Nick Farkas described Lamar as one of his favourite performers. “He’s done Osheaga before and it was just spectacular – like people often come up to me and talk about that night,” he told iHeartRadio. “So, getting Kendrick back is a huge coup for us. We’re super excited.”
Farkas said he is “really excited” about bringing Foo Fighters to Osheaga after “trying to get them forever.” And, of course, the festival boasts chart-topping Lizzo, who picked up three Grammys on Sunday night. “Everybody loves Lizzo,” said Farkas. “We’re super excited to get her.”
The full line-up of more than 100 acts coming to the 15th edition of Osheaga will be unveiled Tuesday, the same day tickets go on sale.
Over the years, Osheaga has hosted big names like Eminem, Coldplay, Weezer, The Black Keys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Lorde, Travis Scott and Childish Gambino – as well as homegrown acts like Broken Social Scene, Arkells, Tegan and Sara, Arcade Fire, The Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts Band and City and Colour.
The festival has also provided a showcase for countless indie artists.
Osheaga is presented by Bell Alt TV, part of the same parent company as this website.
