An event described as “a new, touring music phenomenon” backed by Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith is coming to Montreal.
Few details were announced Tuesday but the Smiths’ Westbrook Inc. and Apollo World Touring said World Tour will bring big-name music stars, local talent and DJs to eight cities.
The inaugural event, headlined by British pop star Robbie Williams, is set for March 14 at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
In addition to Montreal, World Tour is set to touch down in Berlin, Miami, Milan, Osaka, Seoul, and Taipei.
"From the inception of World Tour, we’ve been excited with its potential as a global franchise to bring mind-blowing experiences and unparalleled access to fans and creators worldwide,” said Westbrook president Tera Hanks, in a statement to Billboard. “We’re gathering some of the biggest names in music to celebrate cities around the world and the amazing creativity found there. We can’t wait for everyone to join us on the World Tour.”
Apollo World Touring’s chair Paul Morrison said in a statement that “World Tour will feed global audiences hungry for great content – bringing the best in entertainment to provide a unique platform which will celebrate the best that our host cities have to offer.”
Details of all the World Tour events are expected to be revealed soon.
