Viral pygmy hippo Moo Deng is now a recording artist.
The world's most famous semiaquatic mammal from Thailand has signed a deal with GMM Entertainment and released a new song titled “Moodeng Moodeng." The zippy 50-second song is now available in the languages of Thai, English, Japanese and Chinese.
Moo Deng (translated as “bouncy pork") became a universal sensation in July when she was born in the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha, Chonburi, Thailand. After debuting on Facebook, she went viral for her giddy personality and wacky behaviour, which sees her "deng" (bounce) around her enclosure. Her popularity has made her a merchandising phenomenon and the zoo now attracts up to 5,000 visitors a day, looking to catch a glance.
Written and recorded by Thai composer Mueanphet Ammara, “Moodeng Moodeng" is a standard novelty song that features lyrics such as "Moodeng Moodeng deng deng deng deng deng deng," "Moodeng boink boink boink boink boink boink boink boink," and "Mommy Mommy, Play with me Please Mommy, Come play with me Bounce with me."
The accompanying music video features a clip of the little hippo falling down on loop. Watch it below.
