Morrissey has said he would kill “vermin” U.S. president Donald Trump if he could.
The British singer was asked by Germany’s Der Spiegel if he would press a button that would cause Trump’s death. “I would, for the safety of humanity,” Morrissey replied. “It has nothing to do with my personal opinion of his face or his family, but in the interest of humanity I would push.”
Morrissey, 58, said he never expected Trump to win the election and blamed the U.S. media for his victory.
“Trump has received so much attention, especially when compared to other candidates – Bernie Sanders, for example,” Morrissey told Germany’s Der Spiegel. “Although the media said he would not win, every day, all the headlines: Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump!”
He continued: “Whether they criticize him or laugh at him, he does not care, he just wants to see his picture and his name. The American media have shot themselves in the leg.”
The outspoken ex-Smiths frontman added: “Since he has been in power, he has exhausted the world. He grabs after everything like a little child.
“He is not a leader. He is vermin."
