Many of the music stars impacted by last week's great blue checkmark purge have had their Twitter verification badges restored.
It is not known how many paid to get their checkmarks back.
“On my soul i didn’t pay for twitter blue,” Lil Nas X insisted in a tweet on Saturday, after his checkmark reappeared. "u will feel my wrath tesla man!”
Former Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui tweeted: “Wait a minute now y’all do you really think I paid for this??? thank you for my blue check back but I guarantee I didn’t pay, unless Elon took up my tab too.”
The singer, who called Twitter owner Elon Musk a “weirdo” and “ego maniac” on April 20, insisted she did not pay to get her checkmark back.
“Like?! How are you lying to these people like this?!? That has to be fraud somehow right? You think I’d pull out my wallet after talking all that s**t? This is embarrassing.
“Honestly what a clown..and weird marketing tactic. It’s so deceitful and weeeeirrrddddd like?! You just lying to these people and for what?!”
Jauregui added: “So thank you for the check mark back but stop lying & saying I paid for it CLOWN.”
MORE: Music Stars React To Losing Twitter Verification Badges
Several music stars who had shared their reactions to being stripped of their checkmarks last week suddenly got them back, including Charli XCX (who had tweeted: “i love being unofficial and unverified. it’s very moi”), Ciara (“Blue check or no check… I know my fans still checkin”) and The Game (“Check gone but the checks still comin”).
Also verified once again are the accounts of Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Janet Jackson, Nicki Minaj, Adele, Sam Smith, Selena Gomez, Harry Styles, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, U2, Megan Thee Stallion and Canada’s Justin Bieber and Drake.
Still without checkmarks, as of Sunday morning, were Shania Twain, Lionel Richie, Sarah McLachlan, St. Vincent and Yungblud.
Dionne Warwick, who tweeted that “the verification system is an absolute mess” and insisted “I am not paying for a blue check,” remains unverified.
FINNEAS tweeted on April 20 that he “FINALLY got rid of the blue mark” and told his followers: “I only have one twitter, it’s this one- anyone ever tells you they’re the real me, with any other @ is lying – we used to have a system in place on this app that would make sure you knew someone was really who they said but that’s gone now :)))))”
But it appears FINNEAS got an upgrade: He now has a gold checkmark on his account.
