Canada Post announced this week that it will be recognizing the impact of Canada's music television stations with commemorative postal stamps.
The brainchild of media mogul Moses Znaimer, MuchMusic first launched on August 31, 1984 while its French-language counterpart, MusiquePlus launched on September 2, 1986.
Both stations were not only credited with giving a voice to local and international musicians but also for launching the media careers of several VJs.
Notable MuchMusic VJs include Steve Anthony, Erica Ehm, Michael Williams, George Stroumboulopoulos, Rick Campanelli, Denise Donlon and Sook-Yin Lee among others.
While on the MusiquePlus side, some might recognize names like Sonia Benezra, Geneviève Borne, Véronique Cloutier, Claude Rajotte, Catherine Pogonat and Pierre Landry.
The stamps are set to be unveiled at special events on October 10 at the buildings that once housed both TV stations in Toronto and Montreal respectively.
In 2013, MuchMusic shifted away from music-oriented programming but would go on to launch a music-based TikTok channel in 2021.
MusiquePlus instead ceased all programming in August 2019.
