Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and Halsey are among the music stars urging their fans to support the people of Beirut following Tuesday’s massive explosion.
“My heart, strength and condolences are with Lebanon and everyone affected by this tragedy,” Grande tweeted. “please support / donate if you’re able to, i will be doing so too.”
Halsey, who said her “heart is aching looking at these photos in Beirut,” retweeted a link to the Lebanese Red Cross after asking “how we can help most effectively and immediately?”
Lipa also shared links on Twitter. “Lebanon is on its knees and needs us more than ever,” she wrote, adding that the devastating explosion has exacerbated economic and political problems in Lebanon. “We have to come together to help.”
Music stars like LL Cool J, Sara Bareilles and Gloria Estefan, Lenny Kravitz, Ricky Martin and Lana Del Rey are among those who took to social media to express their shock and offer support to the people of Beirut.
“Beirut is one of my favourite places I’ve been in the world,” tweeted Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds, who shared a link to the Red Cross. “The people were wonderful to us. I’m absolutely devastated for those who have lost their homes and even their lives. Love for Lebanon.”
Canada's Paul Anka, who was born in Ottawa to parents of Lebanese descent, tweeted that his "heart is broken in so many pieces."
