Music stars like P!nk, John Legend and Chance the Rapper took to Twitter following Tuesday night’s chaotic U.S. presidential debate, where Donald Trump told white supremacists to “stand by.”
P!nk urged her 32 million Twitter followers to “Vote this racist, childish, ignorant, tax evading, DRAFT DODGING CLOWN OUT OF OFFICE.”
The singer also tweeted: “America, Are you okay with this dips**t? Seriously? I’m so ashamed that we’ve lowered ourselves to even consider another term for this shameful loser. Even if you think it’s still defendable behavior. Your children are watching.
“The way forward is NOT WHAT WE’RE DOING. We are all one people. Even though the racist in charge has confused things because he himself is confused, we are ALL better than this. Even Trump supporters know this. We are ALL BETTER THAN THIS.”
P!nk also commented that preschool teachers should now moderate debates “in order to deal with the sulking clown that is Donald.”
Legend tweeted: “We can’t put ourselves through another 4 years of this walking dumpster fire.”
Chance The Rapper shared his thoughts after Trump refused to denounce white supremacists and described racial insensitivity training as racist.
“The entire country has to make a decision as to whether it will continue to downplay the fact that our President is an openly racist White Supremacist and what that means for its citizens,” he tweeted, “or... VOTE HIM OUT.”
Rapper Ja Rule agreed. “This is about GOOD and EVIL... not BLACK and WHITE... vote evil OUT!!!”
Frank Ocean said of the debate: "It all feels fake. The problem’s that it’s not. Donald is president and might not leave the White House even if he loses the race so some say,” he wrote in an Instagram Story. “Pls vote. Watching him dragged out will be way more entertaining than these debates.”
Singer Rob Thomas said watching Trump was like watching a “child lash out."
He tweeted: “Are you kidding me? This is your president. @realDonaldTrump can NOT have a conversation he is an idiot. This would be over a year ago. I can’t believe what I’m seeing.
“No matter what happens. Isn’t the fact that our president is incapable of having a rational discussion enough to make him not eligible? It used to be.”
Rocker Sebastian Bach, who grew up in Canada, said Joe Biden has his support. “We cannot take one more second one more year of this misery let alone 4 more years,” he tweeted. “NO WAY.”
Kelly Rowland reacted with one line – “WTF!!!….PEOPLE PLEASE VOTE!” – while her Destiny’s Child sister Michelle Williams joked: “I didn’t know I’d need a dropper full of CBD oil to watch this!”
Singer Lauren Jauregui claimed she was not watching the debate – and didn’t need to.
“I know what it is,” she tweeted. “Two completely incompetent, unqualified males debating which one has a bigger ego. Politics aren’t going to save this nation. Look into local grassroots orgs and mutual aid programs and GET TO WORK if u wanna see change.
“Y’all can be mad at me for telling the truth if you want. You can all vote and you’ll see plenty of content over the next few months of me letting u know voting Biden is a ‘better’ option; but I stand by what I say. Politics will not save us. This is clearly NOT about the people.”
