After a handful of warm-up shows, My Chemical Romance is heading out on a full-fledged tour later this year.
The alt-rock band, which split up in 2013 after 12 years and four studio albums, announced Wednesday they are kicking off a North American tour in Detroit on Sept. 9. There is only one Canadian stop: Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Sept. 14.
(The Umbrella Academy, a Netflix series based on the comic book series by MCR frontman Gerard Way, is shot in Toronto.)
It is MCR’s first tour in almost a decade. Tickets go on sale Jan. 31 at 12 noon.
Last November, MCR announced they were reuniting for a show in Los Angeles on Dec. 20.
Before hitting the road at home, the band will play Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Europe.
