Hundreds of items from the Canadian music legend’s personal collection are going up for auction on Dec. 9 in Los Angeles – including guitars, clothing, and model trains. There are even several classic cars.
“Collecting all of these items have been my great joy,” Young said, in a release. “They have provided a source of inspiration, fun and creativity throughout my life. Now it is time to share them with others in the world whom I hope will enjoy and love them as much as I have.”
Young’s items can be viewed online and will be on display at Julien’s Auctions Gallery in L.A. from Dec. 4 to 9.
The 72-year-old Toronto native, a model railroad enthusiast, is parting with more than 200 pieces from his Lionel train collection, including the Lionel 773 New York Central Hudson Factory Prototype locomotive, which could fetch up to $20,000 (all figures U.S.).
Cars up for auction include Young’s 1948 Buick Roadmaster Hearse decorated with backstage passes and bumper stickers and a limited edition 1953 Buick Roadmaster Skylark Convertible worth as much as $130,000.
Fans can bid on a 1935 Martin F-7 acoustic guitar and a 1965 Gibson ES-345 left handed electric guitar. An Abercrombie & Fitch plaid flannel shirt Young wore in a performance with Paul McCartney is among the many articles of clothing available.
