Niall Horan this week shared a photo of the cringe-inducing aftermath of an injury he sustained while drunk last week.
The 26-year-old singer showed off his black-and-blue left ankle in an Instagram Story on Monday – a week after posting a clip revealing that he was wearing a medical boot.
Appearing on singer Ashe’s Instagram Live last week, Horan explained that he tore ligaments in his foot a few nights earlier while “about six pints deep.”
He explained: “I was running drunk … and then missed the curb completely and went over my ankle and snapped all the ligaments on the outside of my foot.”
Horan said he initially didn’t think he had done much damage.
“I went to bed the minute we came in. I was like ‘this doesn’t feel like your normal ankle roll.’ I laid in bed and someone brought in a bag of ice and put it on my leg,” he recalled. “But then I fell asleep. I woke up in a pool of water. The bed was soaking. It looked like I wee’d myself.
“I tried to step out of bed and it was excruciating.”
Horan sought medical treatment and was relieved when a doctor told him there were no broken bones – only torn ligaments.
“I have to wear a boot for two weeks, I can’t play golf. And that’s pretty much it,” he said. “I don’t think I can drive. It’s sore to touch. It’s not sore all the time.”
