Niall Horan says he doesn’t put out a new song unless it gets a stamp of approval from his buddy, Canadian singer Shawn Mendes.
“We send songs back and forth,” Horan said during an appearance on The Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill.
“If we’re in L.A. at the same time and we’re in the car and we’re going somewhere we’ll just throw it on – one of his or one of mine.”
Horan, who recently dropped “Nice to Meet Ya,” said he expects pals like Mendes and Lewis Capaldi to be completely honest with him.
“That’s what you want,” he said. “You can completely lie to someone. There’s no point in that.
“I suppose as friends, they would have my best interests at heart so if I fell in love with something and they actually secretly hated it… I mean, there’s no need for that.”

During the interview, Horan also sang the praises of female artists. “Billie Eilish is just the best thing to happen to the music industry in a long time,” he said, also describing Latin artist Rosalía as “unbelievable.”
He declared: “All the girls are smashing it at the minute.”
