Canada’s Nickelback is one of five bands that can’t be played at a U.S. Department of Defense command post in Washington state.
In a memo posted on Twitter by U.S. marine Geoffrey Ingersoll, music from Slipknot, Korn, Smash Mouth, and Creed is also banned.
The directive -- with the subject "Banned Playing Of Terrible Rock Groups" -- left many rock fans confused. While Nickelback and Creed serve as the punchline for every uninspired and hack comedy writer, the inclusion of Korn and Slipknot seems unfair.
Many people are speculating that the memo was sent out as a joke.
"Do we really think this commander signed that memo as a lawful order? No, not at all,” Mike Trysom of US Army WTF! Moments told HuffPost. “It was likely a joke or a prank he played on one of the platoons under his command."
