Say what you will about Nickelback, but they sell a lot more records than you.
It was announced Monday that on March 3, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) gave Diamond certification to the Canadian rock band’s 2005 album All the Right Reasons — representing sales of 10 million copies.
“We’re very thankful to have an album that so many people have appreciated,” guitarist Ryan Peake said, in a release. “We never imagined this would be possible and for that we are humbled and so grateful 10 million times over!
“We are honoured to have reached this milestone with All the Right Reasons, none of which would be possible without all of the amazing people that have supported us.”
All the Right Reasons, Nickelback’s fifth studio album, debuted in Canada at No. 1 and shot up charts around the world thanks to singles like “Photograph” and “Far Away.”
It was named Rock Album of the Year at the Juno Awards and Billboard Music Awards as well as Favourite Pop/Rock Album at the American Music Awards.
“When we started this band, never in our wildest imagination did we ever think we would get a label deal and put a record out, get a song on the radio [and] tour around the globe,” said singer Chad Kroeger in the release. “These were all just dreams that three guys from Hanna, Alberta never could have fathomed.
“Thank you to everyone that has embraced All the Right Reasons in their own way. To this day, it remains a very special album to us and we are truly humbled and thankful to all of you for making every dream we could have hoped for come true.”

Only three other Canadian acts have had albums certified Diamond by the RIAA: Shania Twain (Come On Over, The Woman In Me, Up!), Celine Dion (Falling Into You, Let’s Talk About Love) and Alanis Morrissette (Jagged Little Pill).
Nickelback’s ninth album, Feed the Machine, is set to come out June 9 and the group is preparing for a tour that kicks off on June 23 in Indiana and includes June dates in Toronto and Montreal followed by September shows in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton. The tour wraps up on Oct. 1 in Vancouver.
