Nicki Minaj is publicly threatening legal action against Canadian TV personality Jesse Palmer.
The rap superstar evidently didn’t take kindly to Palmer, host of the syndicated show Daily Mail TV, mentioning her brother’s rape conviction on a recent episode.
“You better have a good lawyer,” Minaj wrote on Instagram. “You just lied on me on nat’l TV & now you’re being sued. You better be able to back up what you just said about me with FACTS.”
She added the hashtag “#Defamation.”
Minaj is reacting to something Palmer said at the end of a report about her new boyfriend Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender.
Read off TelePrompTer, Palmer said: “Well, her fans are also worried because this isn’t the first time Nicki Minaj has defended a sex offender. Remember, she supported her brother Jelani Minaj two years ago when he was found guilty of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.”
In 2015, the Daily Mail reported that Minaj paid her brother’s bail following his arrest and, although she “hasn’t commented publicly,” the rapper “showed her support” by including Jelani in a family selfie she shared online.
Minaj also took to Twitter this week to go at Palmer. She told her fans: “The barbz are getting more tuition & student loan money after I sue this hoe.”
In another tweet, she warned Palmer: “You going to jail.”
Of course, Minaj can’t send someone to jail for defamation. There has been no confirmation that she has yet filed a lawsuit against Palmer.
Palmer, who was born in Toronto and grew up in Ottawa, played for the Montreal Alouettes and was the first non-American to star on The Bachelor. He has not publicly responded to Minaj's threats.
