Red Bull Music Academy and Phi present the North American premiere of Björk Digital, in association with DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art.
The virtual exhibition is set to take place at the Phi Center in Montreal from October 15th until November 12th, 2016.
It will feature video works elaborated with the artistic direction of the artist with world-renowned directors and programmers.
Several projects will be available for viewing, including the world premiere of Family, directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, with co-creative direction by Björk and James Merry. By the same director, both his films Stonemilker VR and Black Lake will be available.
On top of these wonderful works, the live Björk performance filmed in VR, Quicksand VR, will be shown. Quicksand VR was recorded in Tokyo and live-streamed online as a 360° video VR experience. In this collaboration with Dentsu Lab Tokyo, Björk wears a 3D printed “Rottlace” mask. The mask was designed by MIT Media Lab’s Mediated Matter Group, which includes its founder and director Prof. Neri Oxman.
As if that's not enough, other works will be on display: Mouth Mantra VR (directed by Jesse Kanda), Björk Cinema and Biophilia. The Cinema room will present a curated selection of Björk music videos, with favourites directed by Michel Gondry, Sophie Muller, Chris Cunningham and Spike Jonze.
