*NSYNC alum Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick make a special appearance in the video for David Archuleta’s cover of the former boy band’s track “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.”
Archuleta, who turns 29 in December, hosts a holiday house party in the video, which was directed by Justin Thorne.
Bass and Kirkpatrick show up uninvited and try to convince Archuleta’s friend, played by Broadway actor Austin McKenzie, to let them join the fun. (McKenzie’s real-life boyfriend is Glee star Kevin McHale, a former member of short-lived boy band NLT with Thorne.)
*NSYNC released “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” from their 1998 album Home for Christmas. It was written by JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake with Veit Renn and Canada’s Vincent DeGiorgio.
Archuleta finished second on the seventh season of American Idol in 2008. He released Christmas from the Heart in 2009 and another holiday album, Winter in the Air, last year. His cover of “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” is featured on a new deluxe edition.
