Singer Olivia Newton-John has postponed concerts in Niagara Falls, Ont. this week after revealing she faces a new cancer battle.
The 68-year-old star was set to perform at Fallsview Casino Resort on Thursday and Friday.
“The back pain that initially caused her to postpone the first half of her concert tour has turned out to be breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum,” reads a statement from reps for Newton-John.
“In addition to natural wellness therapies, Olivia will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy and is confident she will be back later in the year, better than ever, to celebrate her shows.”
The Grease star was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and became an advocate for awareness – even opening the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
Newton-John is also part of the Liv On project with Beth Nielsen Chapman and Canadian singer Amy Sky. “It’s our intention … to create songs with a message of compassion and hope,” Newton-John has explained. “They are for anyone facing a time of challenge in their life … or on the journey to health and recovery.”
The trio is scheduled to perform in Richmond Hill, Ont. in October.
