Olivia Newton-John has revealed she is battling cancer for a third time.
The 69-year-old singer said doctors discovered a tumor at the base of her spine last year.
Newton-John told Australian’s Sunday Night that she has had radiation therapy and is using cannabis oil using marijuana that she and husband John Easterling grow on their Santa Barbara ranch.
“I believe I will win over it,” she said. “That’s my goal.”
The Grease star had previously talked about beating breast cancer, with which she was diagnosed in 1992. She said doctors discovered in 2013 that the cancer had returned – this time in her shoulder – but she chose not to go public.
“I thought, ‘it’s my life,’ and I just decided to keep it to myself,” Newton-John explained.
She was driving to see her sister, who was near-death from an aggressive form of brain cancer, when she was involved in a minor car accident.
Later, a lump showed up on her shoulder. “I went to see the doctor and we thought it was something to do with the accident," Newton-John recalled. "Time went on and it turned out to be more than that."
Speaking on Sunday Night, Newton-John downplayed her latest cancer. "I'm one of millions in this fight," she said. "Fight. I shouldn't say fight. In this journey. I see it as part of my mission, maybe."
